I didn't have much time so I tried my home beach for the first time. It is rather small with rocks on both sides and a wind shadow from the cliffs to the north. So I rigged my biggest kit as I didn't want to be underpowered and drift downwind. But the wind picked up and I had to work to stay downwind - a smaller board and sail would have been better in the swell outside. Getting in and out was tricky as expected and got worse as the tide came in, the shore break got bigger and the wind got more gusty and fickle at the beach. It wasn't the best or longest session but good to get out and know it can be sailed. Low tide would definitely be better than a couple of hours after it and NNW should have less wind shadow.
